FAQ

How does airbrush tanning work?

The key ingredient in our airbrush tanning solutions is Dihydroxyacetone (DHA).  It is responsible for producing the beautiful tan itself.  It is derived by plant sources such as sugar beets and sugar cane and by the fermentation of glycerin.  DHA works by reacting to skin protein, oxygen and amino acids in the outer layer of the skin.  The outcome of the reaction is a natural, healthy and glowing color.  Color development is gradual and continues to develop for about 24 hours after your glow is applied.  Bellevue Bronze's solution is enriched with vitamin A, B, C, D, and E, aloe vera, elderflower, white and green tea, coconut, jojoba, and meadowfoam oil.

What should I wear to my session?

Bring loose fitting clothes to change into after your tan - no yoga pants, no denim, no sports bras!

How long will my glow last?

Our airbrush tans typically last 7-10 days, depending on the after care provided by the client.

How dark will I be after my session?

This all depends on the depth of the glow you are looking to achieve.  Our solution contains a bronzer, so you will have an instant glow, and it will gradually develop to the level discussed between you and our specialist.  Generally, airbrush tans have the strongest shade between the first 3-4 days.

How long do I need to wait to shower after my session?

1-8 hours, depending on the solution you choose.  Our rapid solution can be rinsed off within 1-4 hours of the application.  Our traditional solution can be rinsed off 8 hours after application.

Can I wear makeup after a tan?

YES!  Powder preferably but if you need to wear liquid, just wait 4 hours after your tan is applied.  The spray solution already has cosmetic bronzers in it, so you may feel inclined to go makeup free!

What products should I steer clear of after my session?

Lotions high in mineral oil, and any form of baby oil is strongly discouraged.  PH balanced body washes are best for airbrush tans.  We recommend you avoid Dove, Oil of Olay, or any fragranced soaps.

Do I need to wear sunscreen in the days after my glow has been applied?

Yes!  Your airbrush tan will not protect you from UVA and UVB rays.  Choose an oil free and water-resistant sunscreen.

I have an event coming up, when should I book my appointment?

2-3 days before the event.  If you are booking for a special event (weddings, proms, etc), we recommend doing a trial run 2-3 weeks before your event.  This way, we can find the right solution to achieve the perfect level of glow for you!

I'm going on vacation with my glow, how can I maximize my results?

We recommend that you avoid jacuzzis and opt for the pool instead.  We also recommend applying a water-resistant sunscreen spray.  When drying off, use your towel to gently sponge the water off your skin and be sure to apply a suitable moisturizer before going to bed.

Can I get an airbrush tan while pregnant?

DHA acts only on the top layer of the skin.  Our solution is non-toxic and there is no evidence that demonstrates the harmfulness of DHA.  However, each pregnancy is different and we strongly recommend consulting your doctor before making an appointment.
